And even shorter when the doctor tells you that you only have a year to live. My Tita Evie, also my godmother, was diagnosed with cancer this past week. I got mad at my mom for taking pictures maybe because it magnified the fact that there may not be that many opportunities to do so in the future. The cancer that most likely started in her lungs had metastasized to her spine, and they think her brain. She is undergoing more tests this week. As I listened to her speak about the diagnosis, the terms were too familiar. Every day I work on this programs on lung cancers, multiple myelomas and other cancers, but I never thought I would hear these things coming from my aunt's lips.

My heart is just breaking.

When you are younger, I think you just expect your love ones to live forever. We have been so fortunate to loose family to old age and not sickness. Please keep her in your prayers.
