Goodbye Irene!

Our power went out around 9 pm. We just finished having dinner and was just watching TV and bam. No power. We lit all the candles and Andrew wanted to read a book. I told him he could use the flashlight app on my iPod! So he read by iPod light as I labeled all of Jaxson and Zoe's pencils for school by candlelight.

Andrew actually went outside to investigate a strange random light. It was the neighbors trunk light. Thank goodness we saw it so we could shut it before the winds really got bad! When we got up, there was no damage near us. We could hear the creek behind us roaring, but it never flooded. There were some small branches down, but nothing too bad. I ventured out to try and go to Kristy's house to get coffee, but the road was closed from the large creek on Buck road flooding. I came home and opened some of the windows. It was actually sunny! I feel so grateful that we were spared Irene's fury... I can't believe how incredibly gorgeous it is right now either... the sky is beautifully blue and not a cloud in sight.
